Jingchuan Wangmu Palace
Jingchuan Wangmu Palace, a Taoist temple. Located on the summit of Huizhong Mountain, two kilometers west of Jingchuan County, Gansu Province.
According to legend, King Mu of Zhou met the Queen Mother of the West here during his western expedition; it is also said that Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty welcomed the Queen Mother’s chariot at Ganquan on the Seventh Night of the Seventh Month in the second year of Zhenghe (91 BCE), and offered her a peach of immortality.
Therefore, later generations built the Wangmu Palace on Huizhong Mountain, though the exact date of its construction is unknown.
The original main structures within the palace included the First Heavenly Gate, Second Heavenly Gate, Third Heavenly Gate, Wangmu Grand Hall, Yu Huang Pavilion, Zhou Mu Wang Shrine, Han Wu Di Shrine, Xuan Di Temple, as well as the Wanghe Tower, Xiaozhong Pavilion, and Kuangru Pavilion, all of which were meticulously designed and majestic in scale; However, it has been repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt due to wars and turmoil.
The existing buildings are mostly reconstructions from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
